Role-based Learning for AI-assisted Cyber Incident Analysis

National Science Foundation logo
Dr. Jay Yang, in collaboration with Dr. Justin Pelletier from Rochester Institute of Technology and Drs. Dave Miller, Raffaella Borasi, and Zenon Borys from University of Rochester, is researching and developing a training program that introduce cybersecurity practitioners with Generative AI as part of their incident response workflow. This effort is supported by NSF Awards #2502341 and #2228002. The latest training program will be help on October 9–11 at Rochester Institute of Technology. The participants will explore how Large Language Models (LLMs) can enhance cybersecurity incident analysis through immersive, scenario-driven learning. Participants will engage in team projects, ride-along workflows, and a live human-AI exercise, developing skills in AI scripting, system prompts, and incident response. The program emphasizes human-AI collaboration, critical evaluation of AI capabilities, and practical problem-solving under time pressure.
